A Little Sweat Goes a Long Way

“Confidence comes from discipline and training.” anonymous

Over the last number of years, on three separate occasions, I challenged myself to an intense 14-week fitness program at Aspire Fitness called Push-Ups to Pin-Ups. Each time I cleaned up my eating, worked out 4 times a week at the gym, mostly did my cardio homework, and enjoyed being pampered with professional hair and make up services prior to a professional photo shoot.

The benefits I thought I would gain from the program were things like less fat, less inches, increased muscle mass and increased energy. Looking good wasn’t a bad motivator either.

What I did not anticipate was the increase in my confidence. It impacted my desire and I believe my ability to stretch myself farther professionally.

Pushing myself in the gym, changed how I viewed opportunities.

It impacted how I assessed my abilities and potential.

It influenced my perception of the impact I could have.

Having chosen to transition out of an executive role, I now have the privilege of partnering with professionals, leaders and emerging leaders on their journeys. As I listen to their internal and external challenges, I am reminded how what we see on the outside often does not reflect what is going on inside.

Everyone doubts.

Everyone struggles with confidence from time to time, whether we admit it or not.

And this impacts our ability to be who we are meant to be.

Working on ourselves is a life-long pursuit.

Red Chair BeStrong ties together what we do in the gym with how we do work and life.
